JACKIE SPINNER is an award-winning journalist based in the Middle East, where she is currently a U.S. Fulbright Scholar in Oman. In August 2011, she will join the journalism Department faculty at Columbia College Chicago, where she will teach multi-media journalism and start a hyper local web site for the Arab-American community. She was a staff writer for the Washington Post for 14 years and covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. She is the author of Tell Them I Didn't Cry: A Young Journalist's Story of Joy, Loss, and Survival in Iraq. She is co-director of Conflict Zone.
